London-based health social network HealthUnlocked announces $2m seed funding round and new senior leadership hires
HealthUnlocked announces a $2m seed investment round from US and UK investors. Led by Nick McKeown, a California-based British entrepreneur and Stanford University computer science professor, the round was strongly supported by existing investors.
This funding allows the team to continue its rapid growth, especially into fast growing overseas markets like Latin America. HealthUnlocked’s business model has been refined, enabling key commercial partnerships with researchers, payers, patient organizations and clinicians.
The company also announces the hire of two key executives, Adam Neilson who joins as Chief Technology Officer and Amanda Jones Floyd as Chief Product Officer.
Adam brings over 16 years experience leading technology teams. He leads the redesign of a highly scalable technology platform. The architecture features a bespoke ontology management system allowing HealthUnlocked to develop a sophisticated language agnostic ‘health graph’ connecting users, conditions, symptoms and treatments.
Amanda brings over 10 years of experience from leading consumer-facing online brands including Apple, Google and Vodafone. As an experienced international product manager she leads the expansion into new markets and the design and development of compelling consumer offerings
This announcement comes on the back of a new platform release greatly expanding the functionality and reach of the service.
