As the year draws to a close and we hit the 1 million member mark, we’re delighted to share the 2018 Engagement, Impact and Insights Report with you. This year has seen a further strengthening of the previously reported trend towards greater patient knowledge and understanding, and less reliance on clinical intervention as the first port of call.
We’ve seen that being part of the HealthUnlocked community and having access to condition-specific information, has empowered people to be more confident in managing their conditions and also enabled them to have better interactions with clinicians.
The survey results have shown us that it is uncommon for people to meet someone with the same health condition as themselves in everyday life, with 66% of our users saying they had not done so until they came to HealthUnlocked. And having a platform where people can safely share their own experiences and get insight into their conditions has proved to make a significant impact in the way healthcare is delivered.
Below are some highlights from the report:
- 66% of users had not met anyone with the same health condition as them, prior to joining HealthUnlocked
- 41% increase in people deciding a visit to their doctor was unnecessary, after consulting HealthUnlocked online.
- More than 80% of people found HealthUnlocked a helpful source of information and a safe space to share their experiences
